Autumn Knits

The Autumn season can some times be a tricky one to muster when it comes to the outfit choices because for one it is not hot enough to parade around in ones skimpy clothing without an outerwear piece and two it is not yet cold enough to drag out that thick long wool coat. Thus in the early stages of Autumn I tend to dress like it is still summer with added piece of an outerwear to keep warm.

I love it when I come across pieces like this ribbed knit dress that is in the style of a summer piece but constructed with an autumnal fabric composition. It allows me to hold onto to the fleeting summer season that little bit longer and even when it gets colder, I can layer underneath and on top to keep warm. This is one piece that I plan to wear a great deal off during the coming month.

I also the fact that it is not form fitting thus for me it makes it very comfortable piece to wear and to also conceal any food baby that may become prominent during the course of the day.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips

I have been a fan of Charlotte Tilbury's matte lipsticks for quite some time now so when she released her matte liquid lipstick collection, I was beyond eager to get my hands on it and try it out. Fortunately enough for me I was sent a few samples of the matte liquid lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood lips collection to try out so I have gone ahead and tried them on for you and you can check them out below.

There are about ten shades in the Hollywood Lips collection and I was sent three (Rising Star, Too Bad I'm Bad and Screen Siren) matte lipsticks from the Hollywood lips collection that I chose myself as I felt these shades would compliment my skin shade and I wasn't wrong about that.

I'll admit that I was most hesitant about trying on Rising Star. Although the colour shade looks darker on the website once I received the lipstick and had it in my hand I felt the shade looked a little lighter than I was expecting. However with the aid of my brown lip liner it looked pretty good on and as you can see from the images above, it compliments dark skin tones pretty well. Rising Star has now become my favourite pink lipstick to wear and I find myself wanting to wear it nearly every day now.

Once I had tried on Rising Star, I had no doubt that Too Bad I'm Bad would suit me and look good on my skin complexion given that that it is a slightly darker shade of pink. It's a little bolder in colour than Rising Star and a welcome addition to my shades of pink. If I consider Rising Star to be my everyday lipstick shade, then Too Bad I'm Bad is what I would call my going-out-to-the bar shade of lipstick.

I always feel like you can't go wrong with a red shade of lipstick and Screen Siren is one of those crimson shades that is bound to suit any and everyone. I fell in love with this shade the minute came across it on the website and when I got my hands on it, I had no doubt nor hesitation that it would suit me. I also happen to feel like the texture of Screen Siren is a little bit more smoother in comparison to the other two lipsticks. It seems to be that bit more creamier and I love that!

Overall, I found all the lipsticks I tried on from the hollywood lips collection to be non drying and long lasting on the lips. I was pleasantly surprised by it's staying power on the lips having worn them for an entire day without feeling the need to top up. I found the texture to be paste like and fast drying which is a plus for me. I am now eager to try out some more shades from the collection and I will share those with you as soon as I manage to get my hands on more. I must say that Charlotte Tilbury really nailed it with this product and it may just topple the Hot lips lipstick collection as my favourite lipstick product from Charlotte Tilbury.

Nails inc. Dovehouse Green

I started this week with Nails inc. Dovehouse Green on my nails. It's part of the long wear high shine polish collection which was a part of Nails inc Spring/Summer '17 releases. I have been going out of my way to cling onto the last bit summer in whatever way I possibly can given that Autumn is now creeping up on us.

Dovehouse Green wasn't a colour I wore often during the summer months and such I wanted to squeeze one last wear before I eventually switch over to the darker autumnal shades.

To achieve the finish in the images, I first applied a Nails inc Kensington caviar base coat before applying two coats of Dovehouse Green and then finishing off with Nails inc Kensington Caviar top coat.

Ribbed Knits

The ribbed knit is one of those fabric types that can be worn all year round depending on the design of the garment. An outfit like this ribbed knit dress is something I picked up during the summer months but I have plans to wear it some more during the autumn months. All that is required during the autumn months in a additional layer whether it be in the form of a thick scarf, blazer or jacket.

The fabric composition means it's not too thick to wear under the sun and at the same time it is also thick enough to keep you warm during the autumn chills. I would consider a piece like this to be ideal to transition your wardrobe from the summer into the early stages of the autumn months.

With on piece garments like this ribbed knit dress, minimal styling is required. I chose to pair my dress with a pair of heels as I often like to do but equally a pair of flats or white trainers would  make for  a great substitute to the heels.

Nails Inc Chrome Polish Collection

The Easy Chromes/ chrome polish was another of the limited edition collections released by Nails inc over the summer months. The chrome effect has become pretty popular trend across the beauty industry the past couple of years and so it is therefore no surprise that Nails inc would release a collection to rival those on the market.

I lam a huge fan of metallic polishes. I went through a phase whereby all I did was obsess over all metallic polish so I was pretty thrilled about the release of the easy chromes collection from Nails inc. I love that the chrome polish collection features a varied colour selection and not just the typical silver shade you always see. In addition to that the metallic effect from the polish in unreal and under  the sunlight it sparkles for all to see.

Metal Morphosis is the standout colour for me from the chrome collection is Metal Merphosis (a lilac metallic shade) followed by It's all elementary (a green metallic shade)  hell for metal (a bronze  metallic shade) and stare steely (a silver shade).

I have gone ahead and swatched all four polishes from the chrome polish collection and you can check them out by scrolling down below.

Erno Laszlo

Most people tend to deal with skin breakouts during their teen years. I on the other hand was fortunate enough to not have to deal with any breakouts and have been  fortunate enough to have had pretty clear skin all my life with the odd ginormous spot creeping up on my face every now and again. On a whole I very rarely got on a spots growing up and thats not to brag on my part. However the scale somehow decided to tip and to my dismay I am now dealing with the worst break out of spots that I have encountered in my entire life. One could say that puberty hit me at a later stage in life or it could also be down to the fact that I am now wearing an increasing amount of makeup than I ever did before.

For some reason this year (2017) I found myself wearing makeup on a near daily basis. In the initial stages I was very good at cleaning my face of any makeup before bed time but as time went on, I became pretty lazy with my routine and wouldnt always wash the makeup off.

With that being said I am still in shock as to how I managed to accumualte so many spots on my face. One thing I am sure of is that my laxed approach to washing off my makeup at the end of the day certainly did me no favours to the health and state of my skin.

I am now sat here yearning for that all so clear skin I once had and took for granted. It's actaully a little depressing every time I take a good long stare at the current state of my skin and like most folks with spotty skin I am desperate to have a spot free and blemish free skin. I have been trying the Erno Laszlo cleansing bar and detoxifying oil duo to tackle the various spots on my face.

The Erno Laszlo double cleansing bar and oil has been instrumental in helping to reduce the quantity and size of the various spots that decided to seek refuge on my face. Before starting to use this duo detoxifying and cleansing set, my spots were red and sore and seemed to be multiplying by the day.

I used the cleansing duo twice on most days over the past month and during the course I started to see improvements to the nature of the spots on my face. The cleansing duo set went as far as smoothing out the spotty bumps on face and slowing the rate at which the spots were appearing on my face. I was pretty amazed at how effective the Erno Laszlo cleansing duo set has been on my skin.

In addition to minimising the spots on my face, the combined cleansing bar and detoxifying oil visibly reduced my pore size whilst also clearing my skin of any remaining makeup on my face.

The Erno Laszlo Timeless Serum has done a pretty good job of reducing the visibility of my laugh marks. I don't have a great deal of wrinkles just yet but given the effect it has had on smoothing out my laugh marks, I am hopeful that the Timeless Serum will be a great preventitve measure to slow down the ageing process. In addition to that the serum is a great product to use to moisturise my skin after using the cleansing and detoxifying duo.

I am yet to use the exfoliate and detoxifying hydro gel mask but having read its benefits, it will illuminate dull skin and remove dead skin cells whilst also drawing out impurities and minimising the size of my pores.

A MONTH  LATER

All I need to tackle now are the left over dark blemishes of my face. Unfortunately I didn't capture the severity of the spots on my face before using the Erno Laszlo products but I will be sure to keep you updated on how I get rid of the leftover blemishes on my face.

I had to learn the hard way and Lord knows when the blemishes on  my face eventually clears up, I will do better  to wipe off all make up off my face before heading to bed.

For the time being, I am adopting the minimal or no makeup look with daily on exception of special occasions. I am learning to embrace my natural skin as it is and I am learning to fall in love with it and not feel the need to use makeup to polish my look.

Mango Linens

Over the next week or so, I will be sharing snippets from my Summer 2017 wardrobe that I shared over on my Youtube and Instagram but failed to share on the blog. In other words I will be playing catchup over on here with the blog.

I'm personally a huge fan of the co-rd sets so if and when I come across a set that I like and it is reasonably priced then more often than not, I will grab it and thats exactly how I ended up with this co-ord from Mango. Linens are great for the warmer months given it light breathable fabric composition and as such it is a fabric type that I tend to favour a great deal during the Summer months.

It was a set I didn't get to wear a great deal of thus it will be a set that I will be taking along with me when I head off on holiday later this month.

Nails Inc. Rainbow Riot Collection

Rainbow Riot was one of the many mini collections of nail paints that Nails inc released over the summer period. I often shared swatches of the various colours from the Rainbow Riot over on my Instagram page but I thought it was about time I shared the swatches over on here before the cold weather hits us. There's still time to cling on to the last remnants of summer by rocking those colourful polishes which is exactly what I am doing right now.

The Rainbow Riot collection consists of three colourful shades, Coral club, Acid House and Pink Rave which retails for £11 each over on nailsinc.com. The colour intensity from the Rainbow Riots collection is incredible; minimal coats are required to achieve the desired colour of the polish bottle. All shades from the Rainbow Riot collection dry off with a bight neon finish with as little as two applications. I have swatched all three polishes for below to check out.

Coral Club was my favourite from the Rainbow Riot collection and it is one hell of a peachy shade. I wore this colour time and time over the summer. I think it was my most worn colour during the summer months. I just kept coming back to it and even despite the many times I have worn it, I am still not bored of it.

Acid House is a neon green shade that standouts out from a mile off. It's definitely not a shade for the meek and mild. It was a great shade to add pops of colour to what I wore during the summer months.

Pink Rave is that vibrant pink shade that I loved wearing over the summer months. It was my next favourite colour from the Rainbow Riot collections and one I wore multiple times over the course of the summer season. You can never go wrong with a pink shade. I may have several variations of pink in my nail polish collection but I still never get bored of collecting new ones. This colour never gets old for me.

To achieve the manicure finish captured in the above photos, I first applied a base coat using Nails inc Kensington caviar base coat. Once the base coat was touch dry, I applied three coats of each polish (which is a personal preference) two coats is sufficient but I often choose to opt for three. Once the coloured polish was touch dry I finished things with one coat of Kensington caviar top coat.
