Smith & Cult: Song for Fields and Demon Dazed

There have been some recent launches from Smith and Cult for their eyes and lips collections and I have been fortunate enough that I was sent a couple of the new releases to sample, swatch and review.  The new releases consist of two new lip lacquers along with a new lip stain, a new book of eyes palette and eyeliner and judging by the photos in this in post, I am sure that you can make out which items that I managed to get my hands on.

I have been a fan of the Smith & Cult nail lacquers ever since I laid eyes on them a few years back. Their quirky and very unique product design is what initially drew my attention to the brand and having now tried a number of their nail polishes, it is up there on my list of favourite nail brands to wear. I have however always been keen to try out products ever since they expanded their product range to include lips and eye products. I was therefore very excited to try out their new book of eyes palette (Song for Fields) and lip lacquer (Demon Dazed) and I am sharing my thoughts on these below.

The book of eyes eyeshadow palette features a quartet of shades encompassing, a pale blush pink shade, glittery silver shade, gold foil like shade and a green glitter shade as seen in the above picture with finger swatches in the picture below. Being that I am a gold lover it will come as no surprise that  the gold shade is my favourite from the quartet. I also love the foil like texture of the gold shade which is a little different to the other shades and that is also a contributing factor as to why the gold is my favourite shade from the songs of fields palette. In addition I find it to be pigmented enough to show up on my dark complexion which scores bonus points for me.

The other product featured in my PR package from Smith & Cult was the latest addition to the tainted lip stain collection, Demon Dazed, which is very much like a raspberry pink shade. The lip stains are scented with a very sweet vanilla like scent which smells incredible and almost edible in my opinion.

I carried out a wrist and lip swatch and felt the finishing was slightly different. I felt as though the swatch I carried out on my wrist was fast drying and 'mattified' a lot more quickly than it did on my lips. On my lips the Demon Dazed lip stain appeared to have a semi-matte finish, peep the images below. Having said that, the staying power on the lips is great. I didn't find much need to top up during the course of the day and even after eating my lips were still stained a raspberry shade. The product definitely lives up to its name of being a lip stain thats for sure.
